Master Lopez studied martial arts under Grand Master Thompson while stationed with the United States Air Force in Germany and in San Antonio, Texas. He was one of the original members of the Tang Soo Do Karate Association. He later earned his Master Rank with the WTSDA after being stationed in England with the United States Air Force for several years.
Master Lopez operated a TKA school at Olympia Elementary School, Judson I.S.D. in San Antonio in the early 1990's where several TKA members first began to earn their 1st Dan. The list includes including Master Sean Thomas, Master Dan Walthers, 1st Dan Adrian Walthers and 1st Dan Sam Walthers.
Art Lopez is the father of 3 children, all black belts. Victoria is a 2nd degree. Tasmine, and Michael, are both Cho Dan Bo's.
Master Lopez retired from the United States Air Force in 2005.
