Started training in 1978 at the San Angelo Boys Club under
Master Clarence "Daddy-O" Smith. Then moved to the Martial Arts Academy
under the instruction of Master James Cummings. I was assistant instructor at the
Martial Arts Academy and was head instructor at the Central YMCA in San Angelo, TX. for a
time. I resigned the position of head instructor at YMCA to pursue my BS Degree.
I received my 3rd Dan from Master Cummings on August 13, 1988.
I moved to San Mateo, CA. in September 1989 where I now reside. I received my Black
Belt, 1st Dan, in the art of Shaolin Ch'aun Fa (Shaolin Kenpo) on April 13, 2001 from
United Studios of Self Defense (USSD). I also have been studying ESKABO-Daan (a
stick fighting art from the Philippines based on Escrima, Serada, Kali, Arnes, Boxing,
& Jeet Kune Do).
I am currently an instructor at USSD - Foster City where I teach the art of Shaolin Kenpo.
Even though it's not the main style of the school, I also touch upon the art of
Tang Soo Do and ESKABO-Daan for the students.
Balancing life with martial arts, I have a full time position as a Programmer/Analyst/DBA
at San Francisco State University. With all this I still find time to make numerous
trips back to Texas to train and visit my daughter. |
