Gerard "Little Bruce Lee" Vela was promoted to 1st Dan in December of 2005. He got his start in martial arts in Sensei Eric Jones’ school at the bright young age of 5. Gerard became another one of the youngest TKA members to be promoted to Black Belt rank. He loves karate and plans to continue until he reaches Grand Master. Mom remembers GM Thompson describing Gerard as a “Firecracker” when he first met Gerard. Gerard was given the nickname “Little Bruce Lee” because Gerard knows all there is to know about Bruce Lee. For the past five years Gerard has been working on his Nunchaku skills and has won Champion in the weapons and specialty /weapons divisions in the U.M.A. tournaments.
Gerard is entering middle school in the 06-07 school year. Gerard is playing baseball, and plans to play football in the fall. Gerard has been one of U.M.A.’s top ten competitors two years in a row.
